Communion
Pastor Don Elliott
Worship Leader David Duncan
We are meeting in the old Fred’s building at 10:00am in Pickwick.
Social distancing is encouraged and hand sanitizing stations are set up.
The service will still be streamed on Facebook LIVE every Sunday.
We all have questions about the safety of taking communion at this time of high contagion with covid 19. Here are the special measures Grace Chapel will be taking in serving Communion:
Ø For those who come into the Fred’s building for the service, you will be asked to pick up a communion packet as you enter into the room. The communion packets will be placed on a table for you easily to pick up and keep with you until the time to take communion. Each packet contains the bread and the juice as the elements for the sacrament. Instructions for opening the packet will be given by Pastor Don when it is time to take communion. After the service everyone is asked to take their empty packets and put them in the trash can at the entrance.
Ø For those sitting outside the Fred’s building in their chairs or in their cars, communion packets will be brought to them.
Ø For those watching the service on the Grace Chapel Facebook page, you are invited to take communion with us. But you must supply your own bread and grape juice.
These special measures are given for this special time. But the ordinary, biblical measures must not be forgotten. Those are to prepare our hearts for taking communion, and we do that by examining ourselves, repenting of our sin, and believing once again that Jesus died for us.
“Therefore, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord. A man ought to examine himself before he eats of the bread and drinks of the cup. For anyone who eats and drinks without recognizing the body of the Lord eats and drinks judgment on himself.” (I Corinthians 11:27 – 30)
